Healthy Partnership of Board and Administrator
Instead of making sweet, harmonious music to the beat of the nonprofit’s mission, many boards conflict with their administrator. One new administrator was upset and perplexed after a long-time board member told him to dismiss an employee the board member was at odds with. The board member had no delegated responsibility over the administrator or personnel, yet he used his position to demand a firing. What should the administrator do?
