Policy Ideas
The exact policy needs can vary from school to school, but here are a list of areas for which policy guidance would be helpful in most schools.
- Attendance regulation – sick days, doctor visits, vacation, etc; teachers and students
- First grade entrance requirements
- Pass/fail policy
- Homework
- Recording grades – daily? weight of quizzes and tests
- Discipline procedures
- Property damage
- Teacher/student conduct ( maybe this is falls under guidelines, not policy )
- Admission (non-member patrons )
- Technology use for staff and students ( computers, video for instruction, etc. )
- Graduation requirements
- Child Safety policy

School of Infancy
Comenius bases his essay on three premises: 1. The preciousness of the treasure which God bestows on them to whom He entrusts the pledges of life. 2. To what end or purpose He confers those pledges, and to what objects education aught to be directed. 3. That youth demand good education so greatly that, failing it, they must of necessity be lost.

Help for Beginners and the Experienced
In a 25-page handout developed for new teacher orientation, Betty Yoder discusses essentials, including discipline plans, schedules, and planning recesses and recreation. From the contributor: "A number of years ago I wrote up an extensive "Help for Beginners" file to go with a workshop at Teachers' Week at Faith Builders. I read over it and renamed it "Help for Beginners -- and for the Experienced" because, honestly, it helped me!"

Equation Town
"Equation Town" is a system I created for a junior high student who had significant difficulty following the order of operations for solving basic equations. He had already had Semple Math, so he was familiar with stories as mnemonics for math steps. I started with the most basic equations and taught him those steps, then built up to equations with parentheses and exponents. The system sounds very complex if you just read through the document; however, if you start with a basic equation and use all the parts of the story that apply, it should work out. Then try it with a more complex equation.
